Associate Project Manager

Learn how to deliver change and get results. On our Project Manager Level 4 apprenticeship, you’ll become confident in ensuring the smooth delivery of change in any business sector, and skillfully navigating the impact of common challenges that projects face. That means less downtime, more performance. And in a world of constant change, digital transformation, and increased competition, the ability to manage complex projects and improve performance has never been more critical.

This apprenticeship is for those looking to take on the responsibility of managing projects, project activities, and workstreams. Get the know-how to plan project delivery, from scheduling activities, identifying risks and opportunities, to developing and maintaining resource plans. During the programme, you’ll also learn to monitor your projects, tracking everything from budget to quality through the project lifecycle. You’ll learn what it takes to respond appropriately to challenges, opportunities, and how to adapt to change.

Entry requirements

To be eligible you must fulfil the following criteria:
  1. You must be employed in a role relevant to this programme to be eligible to apply.
  2. Your current role should be UK based and you must have lived here for at least three years
  3. The programme must address development needs in your current role
  4. Your line manager must be able to support you throughout the programme

What will you learn?

  • The knowledge, skills and behaviours required by effective project managers
  • Approaches to project governance, project leadership and project quality
  • How to contribute to preparing and maintaining a business case
  • Developing resource management plans for project activities
  • Effective methods of identifying, monitoring and implementing responses to risks
  • An awareness of contract management and procurement

How is your programme structured?

With this project management level 4 qualification, you’ll show you have the skills and knowledge to follow a range of career paths, whether as a project manager, improvement specialist, or change lead. Once you’ve finished the programme, you’ll have the opportunity to pursue an additional specialist professional qualification through our partnership with Firebrand. This includes globally-recognised standards such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner, or APMG AgilePM Foundation and Practitioner.

End Point Assessment

Once you have completed all of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours, you will complete an End Point Assessment. This is conducted by an external assessment organisation and will be graded as either a pass, fail, or distinction.

How we support you

  • You will be taught by expert tutors who have practical experience in the fields in which they teach and a passion to share that knowledge to maximise your career potential
  • You will have access to a Coach who is on hand to guide you through each stage of your learning journey, providing you with clear aims and objectives. They will keep in regular contact with you and instil the confidence that you can achieve
  • You will also attend webinars to develop skills in a variety of areas and prepare you for the end point assessment.
  • You will have access to an Online Learning Environment with all of your qualification content, additional learning resources and all the step-by-step support you need to ensure your success

Commitment from you

During this programme, six hours a week will be spent on learning and developing the required Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours. This development time will include learning new relevant tasks in your role, embedding your knowledge in your role, practical workplace training, spending development time with your Line Manager, attending online or face-to-face courses and time spent writing assignments/assessments or directed self-study hours:
  • Evidencing the application of your knowledge within your working day
  • Independent study and research
  • Shadowing colleagues and mentoring
  • Technical training

Progression upon completion

  • Work towards full membership through further experience and professional development
