Data Analyst

The primary role of a Data Analyst is to collect, organise and study data to provide business insights and support better decision making. Data analysts are typically involved with managing, cleansing, abstracting and aggregating data, in addition to conducting a range of analytical studies on the relevant information. Entry requirements

To be eligible you must fulfil the following criteria:
  1. You must be employed in a role relevant to this programme to be eligible to apply.
  2. Your current role should be UK based and you must have lived here for at least three years
  3. The programme must address development needs in your current role
  4. Your line manager must be able to support you throughout the programme

What you will learn

  • Functionality of Microsoft Excel as a data analytics tool
  • Coding in SQL, Python and R
  • Use of data visualisation tools to present data in infographics, charts and reports
  • The ability to compile data from different sources – e.g. business information systems, spreadsheets, reports and public data
  • Data types, data lifecycle, data structure, database design and data architecture
  • Process, cleanse, analyse (including statistical analysis) and present data on a regular basis
  • Run ad-hoc and standard data analysis reports and performance dashboards
  • Data mining and forecasting
  • Introduction to business partnering

  • Advanced and predictive analytics
  • Combining and preparing multiple datasets

End Point Assessment

Once you have completed all of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours, you will complete an End Point Assessment. This is conducted by an external assessment organisation and will be graded as either a pass, fail, or distinction.

Commitment from you

During this programme, six hours a week will be spent on learning and developing the required Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours. This development time will include learning new relevant tasks in your role, embedding your knowledge in your role, practical workplace training, spending development time with your Line Manager, attending online or face-to-face courses and time spent writing assignments/assessments or directed self-study hours:
  • Evidencing the application of your knowledge within your working day
  • Independent study and research
  • Shadowing colleagues and mentoring
  • Technical training
